39th Bowls Tour - Rye

Another very enjoyable bowls tour. Many thanks to Rodger, David & June for organising the tour and to Simon for printing the programmes. We had a great stay at The Flackley Ash Hotel, Peasmarsh. The weather was kind to us Monday and Tuesday but the forecast for the rest of the tour was rain and high winds however we got away with it, with the wind blowing any rain away quite quickly. One casualty of the high wind was Jonathan's hat which flew off the cliff at Fairlight and despite search parties was never saw again. Onto the bowls we won 6 of our 9 matches. On Friday night we had our small awards ceremony. Top lady was Yvonne with +33 followed by Diane on +22, Chris (Phil's sister) on +12 and Dolly on +11. Top man with an eyewatering +53 was Brian Plumb, then onto +34 for Graham Heard (Tiptree), +30 for Phil and Rodger on +23. At the other end of things competing for the wooden spoons, Ladies -48 Edna (Tiptree), Sarah -40 and men -43 big Colin and -17 Simon.
