It is with great sadness we report Dave's passing. Dave was a member of the bowls club for over 40 years, during the time of Bocking Alliance and Crittall Bowls Club before that. He was a very capable bowler, bowled competively, but most of all Dave enjoyed bowling for fun and the social side of the game and that was good because everybody so much enjoyed his company. Dave had a lovely cheery outlook, was always helpful to anyone and had a great sense of humour. Dave was affectionately known as Basher as he was not known for bowling short woods ! and the name was aptly used by the green team due to his liking for the use of the hammer, but in reality Dave was the brains behind most of the green team jobs on the green and surrounding buildings. Dave for many years did sterling work co-ordinating the bowls tours. In recent times Dave had been very ill and fought courageously with such dignity. Dave will be sorely missed by his many friends at the club and the local bowling community. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife June and the family.
